Blue Sky Fibers Ely Capelet KAL - Cast On Day
It’s cast on day for the Ely Capelet!
Project Notes: Got gauge using the suggested US11 needle. Used the ‘sandwich the needle’ method of the crochet provisional cast on - find a helpful video here: Provisional Cast On (you can also find the link on our website under Inspiration > Tips, Techniques and Errata, along with other useful bits and bobs). This way I will be able to graft the two ends of the piece together and avoid needing to seam it. I might use Kitchener or perhaps a 3-needle bind off if the piece could use some added structure.
Image above shows my swatch along with my provisional waste yarn cast on.
The piece pictured above is knit through the first 12 rounds. Usually I would like to cable without a cable needle. But in this case, the 4 x 4 cable in this gauge yarn is too unwieldy. So I’m using a cable needle this time. As you’re working through the written instructions, don’t forget to work the wrong side rows (every wrong side row is a repeat of the instructions for Row 3,) on every odd row. They aren’t written in individually after row 3.
