Reading Cardigan KAL - Epilogue
You did it!
The knitting is over! Congratulations on your (nearly) finished cardigan! There are just a few more finishing steps before you are done.
Blocking
Blocking your sweater will make sure everything is flat, smooth, and lined up for seaming. Give your sweater in room temperature water with a splash of Eucalan or Soak wash. I did not pin my sweater out. The only blocking ‘hack’ I used is pool noodles in the sleeves. That is my favorite trick for blocking sleeves without a fold line. If you added the optional buttonholes, leave your locking markers in place!
Seaming
Next, you will need to tack down the collar facing. Brooklyn Tweed provides a wonderful resource showing multiple ways you can secure the facing of the collar. I used the herringbone stitch on my cardigan because it was a new technique for me to learn, but this part is flexible. Use any of the options suggested by Brooklyn Tweed or use your own tried-and-true method.
Buttons
If you added buttonholes, now is the time to sew on your buttons. All you need to do is locate those locking markers you placed when knitting the buttonhole rows, and add buttons!
Now you are done! Time to show it off at your LYS, on Instagram with #WildFibersKAL, or just curl up in your new sweater with a good book.
Thank you for joining us on the Reading Cardigan Fall KAL.
